First designed in 1944 for the United States Navy, the Navy range had to withstand the most rigorous conditions onboard warships and submarines in active service. A process was designed to strengthen aluminium, which in turn enabled Emeco chairs to be very light and very durable.

Today, Emeco continues to employ these processes in its expanded range, which are well suited to domestic and commercial projects.
