Backless Bench with a Botan Design

“The Botan bench was designed as a simple bench for the terrace of my office where it has been for the past 5 years until recently I thought of proposing it to Maruni. It’s not an obvious product for the catalogue of a modern furniture company but I am hopeful there may be a need for it among architects designing public spaces.” Jasper Morrison.

The pine Botan bench is suitable for outdoor use, all year round. The acetylated pine selected to make this bench is a robust and weatherproof material which is commonly used in the construction of wooden bridges. The acetylation process is non-toxic and produces an environmentally viable alternative to high-energy, man-made weatherproof materials.

With extended exposure to the elements, acetylated pine will darken in tone and a small amount of surface cracking may take place, but this weathering does not in any way affect its overall performance.
