Cabinet by Florence Knoll
Florence Knoll designed a broad range of storage solutions. Her cabinet designs created a new contemporary aesthetic for streamlined, low and simple cases with plain elevations.
The saddle leather pull was used from 1947.
Wall-mounted and floor-standing cabinets with the restrained sliding door design were available in various sizes and an extensive range of finishes. The cabinets were strictly minimal in appearance and gestures towards decoration would be specified through exotic veneers and lacquered finishes. In keeping with all Knoll productions, the quality of construction is extremely high.
The simple and timeless design was conceived to work singularly or in series.
The example offered is in striking rosewood veneer.
Florence Knoll designed furniture she perceived to be overlooked or was not available in simple formats. Her designs provided enduring solutions for contemporary interiors, with several still in production. Florence and Hans Knoll introduced landmark European and American design to an international marketplace, reissuing prewar Bauhaus classics and commissioning contemporary design from progressive designers and artists such as Bertoia and Saarinen.
