Three seater bench by Florence Knoll for Knoll.

Florence Knoll conceived furniture designs to suit particular needs. The bench was designed in 1954 and envisaged to be cohesive with sofa and storage systems she had also created to fulfil her vision for complete interior schemes in homes and workplaces.

With clear influences taken from the modernist works of Mies van der Rohe, the simple and formal design is executed to the high standards associated with Knoll International’s manufacture and materials.

Florence Knoll studied at Cranbook Academy of Art and moved in 1941 to New York where she met Hans Knoll who was establishing his furniture company. With Florence’s design skills and Hans’ business acumen, the pair grew the Knoll International to be a global design-led brand. They set a now-familiar template of mixing pre-war classics with progressive contemporary designs.

Florence Knoll defined a new standard for the modern and corporate interiors of post-war America, which in turn influenced design sensibilities worldwide.

Two seater bench also available.
